Description
Approximately 41% of Rwandans are affected by intestinal worms (also known as soil-transmitted helminths). Rwanda provides deworming tablets to children under the age of 15 and have recently started providing these tablets to adults as well.
This video highlights how the Republic of Rwanda is using data and the integrated malaria & NTD scorecard to guide and target their deworming efforts in areas where the disease burden is high and to monitor intervention gaps.
The video also shows the importance of partnerships and multi-sectoral response in defeating this disease. This includes collaborating with:
- organisations that provide the medication and funding
- organisations that conduct capacity building activities
- teachers in local schools
- community health workers
